Zombie Walk Oulu information in English

"Grr! Grr! We don't seem to get enough of those lovely rotting corpses! Therefore we have decided to walk them around Oulu again!

The theme of the walk will be "zombie mutants and mutant zombies "

There are alot of ways to dress up as a mutated zombie so you can pick one that suits just your fancy!

Also we don't want to limit the costume choices, and as usual you can show up in any kind of zombie you like! We are not going to say "no" to any kind of zombies! The purpose of our theme is only to inspire and give guidelines when you start thinking about your zombie disguise.

The walk starts at Rotuaari on:
1th of October at 6:00 pm.

General information about Zombie Walk Oulu:

Brief History
Zombie Walk originates from USA from which it has spread globally (like a plague). First Zombie walk of Finland was held in Helsinki in fall 2006.

Zombie Walk of Oulu got it’s idea from the example of Helsinki. Because northern Finland is a far away from Helsinki we decided to have our own walk. We are also the most northern Zombie Walk in the world! (Until proven otherwise :)

For who?

Everyone, no matter their age, sex or other characteristics is welcome to attend to Zombie Walk of Oulu. Every attendance should remember good manners and suitable behavior. It is also good to remember that costumes and make-up and roaring zombie squad might seem scary seen through the eyes of the youngest family members.

Behavior in traffic

Main thing on the Zombie Walk event is that no one is in hurry and everyone is having a good time. Main point is to have fun! Route of the walk has already been planned and you can join the pack anywhere on the route! The pack doesn’t have to be together all the time, but everyone should take care that no one is left too much behind and/or lost.

While waiting pedestrian lights turn to green you can just wait and growl like a good zombie or stare at nothingness. Use your imagination!

Even zombies must obey laws as much as humans.

How to be like zombie

Generally zombies don’t speak but different kind of growls, snarling and drooling are very zombie-like behavior. Some zombies may have learned the word “brains” to express their hunger. Acting (and having good time) is more important than cool zombie costume. But we are very pleased if you put some zombie make-up and clothes fitting the theme.

Many have come up with character to enhance their performance as a zombie. Traditional zombie characters are policeman zombie or nurse zombie. But you may have gotten the zombie virus while brushing your teeth!

Coming up with a certain character isn’t in any way mandatory.

Common sense and behavior

Even though you or some one else may think that zombie walk is some kind of statement of opinion, the most important thing is that everyone’s having fun time. And by everyone we mean zombie walkers, spectators and photographers. So please remember the norms of our society and try to behave respecting them.

We hope that everyone understands not to harass spectators. Eating passers-by or other zombies is strictly forbidden. Organizers are only responsible for their own doings, not yours! Also, when you think of your make-up and costume, you should consider your fellow zombies and spectators. This means that your costumes should be made with good taste (no pun intended) and should not offend anyone. Be discreet when dressing up, please.

Anyone not wearing a zombie outfit should not be touched and/or even be approached too menacingly. You should think that we are after much bigger prey than mere pedestrians. Zombies also usually ignore each other also, although they move as a pack.
